Dakota Defeats Springfield At 2010 NBA D-League Showcase

BOISE, ID Jan. 5, 2010 - It wasn't quite Larry Bird vs. Dominique Wilkins circa 1988, but for Romel Beck and Morris Almond, it had to be pretty darn cool.

The final game of Day 2 of the 2010 NBA D-League showcase featured an old fashioned shootout between Beck of the Dakota Wizards and Almond of the Springfield Armor.

Beck shot 15-for-19 from the field en route to a Showcase-high 39 points, while Almond countered with 34 points on 11-for-16 shooting. In the end, Dakota had a little more fire power and won its second game of the Showcase, 110-103.

"Anytime shots are going down like that, it always feels good, especially for a shooter," said Beck, who scored 13 points on 4-for-13 shooting in yesterday's win over Reno. "My teammates did a great job finding me. Definitely feels good to have a night like this at the Showcase in front of so many NBA scouts."

Cheyne Gadson added 20 points for the Wizards, with Curtis Withers tallying 13 points and seven rebounds. Maurice Maxwell supported Almond with 18 points, while T.J. Cummings added 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Dakota returns to action Friday at Sioux Falls. Springfield also gets back in the act Friday at Maine.
