D-Fenders Win 5th Straight, Beat Idaho

EL SEGUNDO - The D-Fenders beat the Idaho Stampede 117-107 tonight in El Segundo, CA.

Vander Blue (35 points, 16/17 FT) led the way for the D-Fenders (22-16). Josh Magette (18 points, 11 assists, 4 steals), Justin Hawkins (16 points), Andre Ingram (11 points) and Ryan Gomes (10 points, 6 rebounds) all scored in double-figures for Los Angeles.

Brandon Fields (29 points, 8 assists) paced the Stampede (14-25). Tibor Pleiss (17 points, 13 rebounds), JJ O'Brien (16 points), Corey Hawkins (16 points) and Henry Domercant (13 points) all scored in double-digits for Idaho.

Los Angeles started hot, shooting 54.5% from the field in the first quarter, but Idaho was on fire, shooting 65% to take a 35-31 into the second quarter. The second quarter was a complete turnaround, with both teams shooting below 35% as the D-Fenders outscored the Stampede 25-13 to take a 56-48 lead into the halftime break.

The third quarter was a stalemate, both teams scoring 28 points to give Los Angeles an 84-76 lead after three quarters. Blue carried the load for the D-Fenders in the fourth quarter, scoring 16 points as the D-Fenders outscored the Stampede 33-31 to capture a 117-107 victory.

The D-Fenders shot .435 from the field, compared to .500 for the Stampede. Los Angeles connected on a season-high 30-of-32 free throws (93.8%), while forcing 23 turnovers. The D-Fenders outscored the Stampede 20-2 in fast break points. This is the 12th consecutive home win for the D-Fenders.

Los Angeles hosts the Bakersfield Jam on March 3rd at 8:00pm PT in El Segundo.
