D-Fenders Fall Short To Iowa Energy

Los Angeles, CA - The Los Angeles D-Fenders battled for the win but fell short to the East Coast Conference leader, Iowa Energy. Despite a tremendous effort by the D-Fenders, the Energy pulled away with a 112-95 win over the home team.

The D-Fenders jumped out to a good start, leading by as many as eight points in the first quarter. Although Los Angeles came out strong, Iowa outscored the D-Fenders 25-20, finishing the first quarter.

Los Angeles and Iowa rallied for the advantage, as the half came to a close with 16 lead changes. The D-Fenders closed the first half with 14 turnovers to the Energy's 7, contributing to Iowa's 56-47 half time lead.

Frank Robinson of the D-Fenders led his team in the first half with 14 points. Iowa's Courtney Sims brought in 11 points off the bench, while teammate Cartier Martin added 11 of his own to close the half.

D-Fenders guard James Wright hit two three pointers late in the third, narrowing the team's deficit to 6 points. Los Angeles outscored their opponent 29-26 in the quarter but Iowa maintained the lead, closing the third 82-76.

Iowa stretched the lead in the fourth quarter finishing the game with a 17 point advantage, 112-95. Courtney Sims came off the bench for the Energy to lead both teams with 30 points. Curtis Stinson also chipped in with an astonishing 19 assists.

Michael Fey carried the D-Fenders with 22 points, while reserve guard James Wright added 18 points.

"It came down to us not talking on defense and then allowing them to get second chance points," said D-Fenders player James Wright. "We need to play as a team and talk to each other on defense. We need to trust each other."
