D.C. United News Release

WASHINGTON - D.C. United have acquired the Colorado Rapids' natural third-round pick in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft in exchange for forward Conor Doyle.

Doyle, 24, played in 25 MLS matches in 2015, starting 10. He scored two goals in the MLS season, both against the Fire. Doyle made four appearances in the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League and scored two goals, and also provided an assist in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

"Conor was a real team player who provided us with depth at multiple positions during the past 3 seasons, and we would like to thank him for all of his contributions to the club both on and off the field," Dave Kasper, United General Manager and VP of Soccer Operations, said. "This was a necessary move for us to make to provide roster and salary budget space for a future move. We wish Conor the best of luck with his new team and with his career moving forward. "

Doyle left Creighton University in 2010 to sign with the English side Derby County, where he played from 2010-2013. After joining United on loan in 2013, the move was made permanent following the 2013 season. In three MLS seasons, he made 56 appearances for the Black-and-Red, scoring four goals and providing one assist.
