WET WEDNESDAY / LARGEST BAR NIGHT OF THE YEAR PRE-PARTY
TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: One night after facing the league's worst club, tonight the Cyclones will welcome in one of the hottest - the Atlantic Division-leading Reading Royals. Reading has been one of Cincinnati's most common non-division opponents over the years. Since 2006, the Clones have earned a 31-16-5-4 record in regular season play with a 16-8-2-4 mark at 100 Broadway.
TONIGHT'S PROMOTION: Military Appreciation Night / Car Magnet Giveaway / Pucks N Pints - The first 5,000 fans will receive a Cyclones Car Magnet! Plus, the Cyclones will wear specialty military-themed jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game. And there will be a pre-game beer tasting event available for just $30! It features a game ticket, five beer samples, two samples of three appetizers, and a special-edition Cyclones etched glass.
SCOUTING THE ROYALS: Larry Courville's club is among the best teams in the ECHL of late, riding a seven game winning streak to the top spot in the Atlantic Division. While they have been dominant of late, the Royals have had their most trouble on the road - going just 3-3-0-1 away from Sovereign Center. Similar to the Cyclones, Reading has found offense from many different sources; defenseman Denny Urban leads the team and ranks fourth among league rear guards in points (11). Former Chicago Express forward Yannick Tifu sits in second on the Royals with 10 points (4 goals, 6 assists) in 14 contests. Much of their success can be credited to Washington Capitals goaltending prospect Phillip Grubauer, who has amassed a 6-3-0 record with an ECHL fourth-best 2.09 goals against average.
Shalla's Shelling: Last night vs. Evansville, Cincinnati rookie Josh Shalla collected his second straight two-goal game. He now leads the team in multi-goal games (2) and is one of just four Cyclones to have a three point night. Shalla ranks third on the team with seven points (5 goals, 2 assists).
Jumping Out Early: The Clones have scored the first goal of the game in eight of their 12 games played this year - which is tied for fifth most in the ECHL. They are 6-1-1 when lighting the lamp first and have done so in five of their last six games.
Multi-Point Madness: The Cyclones have had 12 different players notch multi-point games this season. In fact, the Clones have had a player earn a multi-point effort in all but three games this season. Mike Pelech, Francois Bouchard, and Josh Shalla are the leaders in this category - with two such games this season.
