Altoona Curve News Release
ERIE, Pa. - With rain pouring and lighting strikes surrounding Jerry Uht Park, Harold Ramirez hit a two-run triple with two outs in the ninth as the Altoona Curve stormed to a 4-3 win over the Erie SeaWolves on Friday night.
The Curve (48-38) moved back into first place in the E.L. West with the win over the SeaWolves (37-52), and now sit a half-game ahead of Akron.
With Erie ahead, 3-2, Stetson Allie led off the ninth with a walk issued by Joe Jimenez (Blown Save, 1)(Loss, 3-1). With one out, Kevin Newman grounded into a fielder's choice for the second out, and Anderson Feliz followed with a single to put runners on first and second.
Ramirez hit his triple over the head of center fielder Wynton Bernard, bringing the tying and go-ahead runs across the plate.
The Curve took a 1-0 lead in the third inning on an RBI single by Newman, but the SeaWolves answered with a run in the bottom of the inning.
In the fifth, Edwin Espinal gave the Curve a 2-1 lead with an RBI single, one of his three hits in the game.
Cody Dickson worked six innings in the game and allowed one run on four hits.
The SeaWolves jumped back in front with a two-run homer by Connor Harrell against Josh Smith (Blown Save, 1)(Win, 2-2) in the seventh.
