Curcuruto Named to Ontario U17 Roster

The Soo Greyhounds Hockey Club, in conjunction with the Hockey Development Centre for Ontario are excited to announce a Greyhounds' participation in the 2011 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

In the announcement made earlier today, Team Director of Operations Robert Kitamura announced the roster that included Soo Greyhounds defenseman GIANLUCA CURCURUTO.

Through 22 games in his rookie season with the Hounds, Curcuruto, a native of Toronto, ON, has 9 assists while sitting in the top 20 of OHL rookie scoring. The Hounds 1st round selection in this past May's OHL Priority Selection recorded his first OHL point in the Hounds season opener back on September 24th in a 6-5 win over the Ottawa 67's.

"The Under 17 experience will be a great stepping stone in Gianluca's hockey career" stated Hounds GM Dave Torrie. "We are pleased to see him selected and we know he will do a great job representing the Greyhounds and Sault Ste. Marie at this event."

Curcuruto and Team Ontario enter this year's tournament having won medals at three consecutive tournaments - Gold in 2008 and 2009 and Silver in 2010. (This marks' the 5th straight season a Hounds has been named to the Ontario roster. It was during the 2010 tournament that fellow Greyhound Daniel Catenacci was part of Team Ontario in Timmins, ON.)

This year's event will be held in Winnipeg, Manitoba and will run from December 29th, 2010 to January 4th, 2011.

The 2011 tournament schedule for Team Ontario is as follows:
