San Jose Barracuda News Release
Bakersfield, CA - The San Jose Barracuda (32-26-4-4) kept playoff hopes alive on Wednesday as they topped the Bakersfield Condors (30-26-9-1), 2-1, at Rabobank Arena.
After a scoreless opening period, Rudolfs Balcers (23) jammed in the games first goal as he received a pass from Rourke Chartier along the right side of the net at 13:36 on a five-on-three man-advantage. The tally tied Balcers with Danny O'Regan (2016-17) for the most goals scored in a season by a Barracuda rookie.
In the third, the 'Cuda made it 2-0 at 10:59 when Ivan Chekhovich centered a pass to Chartier (7) who snapped it in from close range. The Condors cut the lead down to one when Tyler Vesel (2) cashed in on a two-on-one at 16:43, but the Barracuda would hold off Bakersfield's comeback attempt to complete the 2-1 win and extend its winning streak to four-straight games.
Bibeau (22-14-9) earned the victory by making 22 saves on 23 shots. On the other side, Laurent Brissoit (14-10-4) took the loss, giving up two goals on 34 shots.
The Barracuda return to SAP Center on Thursday, April 12 to take on the Condors (7:00 PM) in the final home game of the 2017-18 regular season. Don't forget, April 12 is Fan Appreciation Night, which includes the Barracuda wearing their orange alternate jerseys and fans can submit a blind bid for a chance to win one right off the players' backs after the game. In addition, the game will include fan pack giveaways, season ticket tribute videos, $2 beers, and $1 hot dogs.
