Metairie, LA - The Iowa Cubs (47-45) erased an early deficit with four runs in the top of the third inning and cruised to a 5-2 win over the New Orleans Zephyrs (43-48) at Zephyr Field tonight. The Cubs improve to 3-2 on this road trip and are 6-3 in their last nine road games.

The Zephyrs struck quickly when Gorkys Hernandez led off the bottom of the first inning with a home run off Cubs' starter Chris Rusin. The Zephyrs added a second run in the bottom of the second on a two-out RBI single by Gil Velazquez. Rusin didn't allow another hit as he finished six innings and recorded his team-leading 11th quality start of the season. Rusin did match a season-high with four walks and struck out two.

The Cubs broke through against Zephyrs' starter Tom Koehler in the top of the third. Luis Flores led off with a solo homer to get the Cubs on the board. Rusin and Logan Watkins followed with back-to-back doubles to tie the game at two. Tim Torres drew a walk, and with one out, Brad Nelson doubled to deep right-center to drive in Watkins with the go-ahead run. Torres advanced to third and would score the final run of the inning on a groundout by Junior Lake.

The Cubs added their final run in the fifth on three straight singles by Torres, Ty Wright, and Nelson. Nelson finished with three hits. Wright extended his hitting streak to six games. Watkins has reached base safely in 11 in a row. Flores has homered in two of his last three starts.
