The Iowa Cubs were ahead of the Nashville Sounds 8-3 going in to the eighth inning but failed to hold the lead and lost 13-8 in 10 innings. The Cubs dropped to 9-17 on the season and have lost eight of their last nine.
Rickie Weeks led the comeback charge for the Sounds, slamming a three-run homer in the 10th inning and going 3-5 with two homers and four RBI.
The newest Iowa Cub, Dwaine Bacon, who was recently promoted from double-A West Tenn, was on base five times and stole two bases in his first triple-A start. Mike Moriarty was 2-4 with a triple, a homer and three RBI and Trenidad Hubbard added a solo blast of his own.
Jose Mercedes (1-1) took the loss for Iowa and regular starting shortstop Steve Scarborough (1-0) pitched two shutout innings to get his first win for the Sounds.
