Crunch Banish Phantoms 4-2

Syracuse, NY- Brett Connolly scored twice as the Syracuse Crunch defeated the Adirondack Phantoms 4-2 tonight at the War Memorial Arena.

Goals from Connolly, Mike Angelidis and Richard Panik, plus a 24 save performance from Crunch goaltender Dustin Tokarski, improved the Crunch's overall record to 26-12-2-4 and 10-7-2-2 at home.

Angelidis opened the scoring with 5:27 to play in the first period. Angelidis collected the puck behind the Phantoms net before beating Phantoms netminder Brian Boucher with a wrap-around shot to put the Crunch up 1-0.

Connolly chipped the rebound of an Alex Killorn shot past Boucher to double the Crunch lead 4:20 into the middle frame.

The Phantoms scored twice to even the game at two going into the final frame after a breakaway goal from Zack FitzGerald at the 5:37 mark and former Crunch forward David Laliberte at the 12:20 mark.

The Crunch scored the game's final two goals in the third period. Panik had his initial shot blocked before he collected the puck and potted his team leading 21st goal of the season 9:15 into the third. Connolly added his second goal of the game when he deflected a Philip-Michael Devos shot past Boucher.
