Crosscutters News Alert- Maglich Named Cutters MVP. Suarez Top Hurler

Williamsport Crosscutters News Release


The Williamsport Crosscutters presented their annual end-of-season awards prior to the final game of the 2016 season on September 5 at BB&T Ballpark.

In an award voted on by the Cutters players and coaches, OF Luke Maglich was named the 2016 Williamsport Crosscutters Most Valuable Player.

Maglich was the 36th round pick of the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2016 draft out of the University of South Florida. Maglich finished the season with a .261 average with 1 home run and 18 RBI. He was second on the team in on-base percentage (.355) and led the team with 20 walks.

The Rankin Johnson Pitcher of the Year Award, also voted by fellow players and coaches, went to Cutters left-hander Ranger Suarez who led the team with 6 wins in 2016. His 2.81 ERA led Cutters starters as did is two complete games. He threw a no-hitter on July 26 at BB&T Ballpark and was named to the NYPL All-Star team.

Max & Alta Border Community Service Award - OF Luke Maglich

Lycoming County United Way Home Run Team Player of the Year - 1B Darick Hall

Gold Star Employee of the Year- Team Photographer Judi Pinkerton

The Crosscutters finished the 2016 season in second-place in the Pinckney Division with a record of 39-36 under second year manager Pat Borders.
