West Michigan Whitecaps News Release

The Midwest League announced today that Whitecaps' pitcher Casey Crosby has been named Pitcher of the Week.

Crosby, a 2009 Midwest League All-Star, is 8-3 with a 2.92 ERA and 101 strikeouts in 86.1 innings of work with the Whitecaps this season. On Monday, Crosby tossed five hitless innings against the Kane County Cougars.

Crosby is the first Whitecap since Mike Hernandez in 2006 to win the award twice in a season. Ben Guez, Bryan Pounds, Luke Putkonen, Billy Nowlin and Ronnie Bourquin have each taken home the honor earlier in the season.

The Whitecaps return home Tuesday, July 28 to take on the Burlington Bees at 7:00 p.m. Individual and group tickets are on sale and can be purchased at the West Michigan Glass Block Ticket Office at Fifth Third Ballpark, by calling the Whitecaps front office at 616-784-4131 or by visiting www.whitecapsbaseball.com.
