Omaha Lancers News Release

Ralston, NE - The Omaha Lancers announced on Wednesday morning that forward Pierce Crawford has committed to play for the University of Notre Dame next season.

Crawford, 19, is in his first season with the Lancers after playing for the Minnesota Magicians (NAHL) last season.

"I am very grateful and humbled to have the opportunity to play at such a prestigious school and hockey program," said Crawford. "Notre Dame gives me every resource to be successful in the future."

Crawford, an alternate captain, is currently second on the Lancers in scoring with 19 points (9g, 10a) in 24 games.

"Pierce has come to the rink every day with the right attitude, and has gone above and beyond everything we've asked of him," said Lancers head coach and general manager Brian Kaufman. "We couldn't be happier for Pierce. Notre Dame is getting a great player but an even better person."

Crawford came to the Lancers from the Minnesota Magicians. Crawford, the Magicians team captain, was second in scoring with 42 points (18g, 24a). Prior to the Magicians the Illinois native spent four seasons play for Shattuck-St. Mary in Minnesota.

"I would not be able to be in this position without my Omaha family, and I can't wait to get back for the second half of the season," stated Crawford."

Notre Dame (9-6-2), members of Hockey East, are currently the 12th ranked team in the country. Crawford is the 14th player to commit to play Division 1 hockey from this season's team.

Omaha is back in action December 28th as the Lancers travel to Madison to take on the Capitols.
