Coyotes Run Past Wranglers, 61-48

FRESNO-The Austin Wranglers traveled to Fresno, California to face, for the first time in team history, the Central Valley Coyotes. Riding on a three game win streak, the Wranglers looked to continue their dominance Saturday night at Selland Arena. Although quarterback Andy Hall and Wrangler receivers had an exceptional performance, the Coyotes proved to be too much to handle and the Wranglers slip away in a 61-48 loss.
The Coyotes took control early in the game when Jomo Wilson returned the opening kickoff 53 yards for a touchdown. Wrangler quarterback Andy Hall continued his playmaking consistency and answered right back when he found John Roberson for an eight yard touchdown to tie it up at the end of the opening quarter.
Making his first start at quarterback for Central Valley, Clay Groefsema would be trouble all night for Austin, throwing three touchdowns in the second quarter. The offensive powerhouse duo of Hall and Roberson gave the Wranglers back-to-back scores before halftime with the Coyotes on top 34-20.
The Wrangler defense was nonstop all night behind the hard-hitting performances of Ricky Williams and Estus Hood, who combined for ten tackles on the night. Wide Receiver Sean Henley came alive in the second half when Hall found him twice in the third quarter to give the Wranglers momentum. Coyote QB Groefsema and receiver Nichiren Flowers connected for a second time on the night to end the third quarter still ahead 41-34.
In a game deciding quarter for the Wranglers, QB Hall put pressure on the Coyotes, finding LeJuan Edwards early in the forth quarter for a 40-yard touchdown strike. Henley capped off his night hauling in a 29-yard pass from Hall to move the Wranglers one step closer. The Coyotes found the endzone three times in the forth, with Groefsema rushing for two of them and passing for another. This proved to be the deciding factor and the Wranglers lose 61-48 in California.
The Wranglers will wrap up the month of June here in Austin when they will host division rival the Texas Copperheads on June 28th.
