Coyotes Recall Rundblad, Assign Stone to Portland

GLENDALE, ARIZONA - Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have recalled defenseman David Rundblad and assigned defenseman Michael Stone to the Portland Pirates, the Coyotes American Hockey League affiliate (AHL).

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Rundblad has played in three games for the Coyotes this season. In 34 games with Portland, Rundblad has collected 6-19-25 and 16 penalty minutes (PIM). At the time of his recall, Rundblad ranked tied for fourth on the Pirates in scoring and led all Pirates defensemen in points.

Rundblad was originally drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the first round (17th overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Stone has appeared in 10 games for the Coyotes this season. The 22-year-old native of Winnipeg, Manitoba has played in 33 games with the Pirates in 2012-13 collecting 6-16-22 and 16 penalty minutes (PIM). At the time of his recall, Stone ranked tied for second among Pirates' defensemen in goals and ranked second in assists and points. He led all Pirate blueliners with five power-play goals.

Stone was drafted by the Coyotes in the third round (69th overall) in the 2008 Entry Draft.
