Coyotes Re-Sign Picard To Contract

Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have re-signed left wing Alexandre Picard to a one-year contract. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Picard, 24, recorded 9-6-15 in 16 games for Phoenix's American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage, last season after being acquired from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for Chad Kolarik on Mar. 3, 2010. Prior to the trade, Picard had registered 17-18-35 in 42 games with Syracuse (AHL) to finish the 2009-10 season with 26-24-50 and 125 penalty minutes (PIM) in 58 games, setting AHL career-highs in goals, assists, points, PIM and games played. Picard also appeared in nine NHL games for Columbus last season.

The 6-foot-2, 206-pound Picard has appeared in 67 career NHL games with Columbus, collecting two assists and 58 PIM. He made his NHL debut with the Blue Jackets on Nov. 18, 2005. In 250 career AHL games with San Antonio and Syracuse, the native of Les Saules, Quebec has tallied 81-80-161 and 475 PIM.

Picard was originally drafted by Columbus in the first round (8th overall) of the 2004 Entry Draft.
