Courtney Fortson Selected as 2013 NBA Development League All-Star

EL SEGUNDO - Los Angeles D-Fenders guard Courtney Fortson has been selected to play in the 2013 NBA Development League All-Star Game, it was announced today. Fortson, who will join the NBA D-League All-Star Futures Team, earns his first NBA D-League All-Star selection and becomes the 10th All-Star in the D-Fenders six-year history.

Fortson, a 5-foot-11 guard out of Arkansas University, has started all 25 games for the D-Fenders this season, averaging 18.2 points, 5.2 rebounds and 6.3 assists in 38.7 minutes. Additionally, Fortson has recorded single-game highs for the D-Fenders this season in points (36 points, 12/15/12 vs. Reno) as well as assists (14 assists, 1/19/13 vs. Fort Wayne). Furthermore, Fortson has led the team in scoring on eight occasions and in assists 15 times.

A two-time NBA GATORADE Call-Up last season, Fortson earned a 10-day contract with the Los Angeles Clippers and later signed with the Houston Rockets in March 2012 for the remainder of the season. In 10 career NBA games with the Clippers and Rockets, Fortson has averaged 3.5 points and 1.0 assists in 9.5 minutes. Prior to joining the Rockets, Fortson appeared in 29 games for the D-Fenders, averaging 17.0 points, 5.9 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 2.1 steals, helping him earn NBA D-League Second Team and All-NBA D-League Defensive Second Team honors.

The seventh annual NBA D-League All-Star Game will take place on Saturday, Feb. 16, at Sprint Arena at NBA All-Star Jam Session at Houston's George R. Brown Convention Center. The game will air live on NBA TV at 3 p.m. ET.
