Kane County Cougars News Release
GENEVA, Ill. - The Kane County Cougars enjoyed their first walk-off win of the season on Thursday afternoon, ending a three-game losing streak with a 1-0, 10-inning victory over the Quad Cities River Bandits in front of 5,602 fans on a windy, 50-degree day at Elfstrom Stadium. Yowill Espinal singled home Gerard Hall in the bottom of the 10th to end it, and Leondy Perez, Nick Wooley and Chase Boruff twirled a three-hitter. The Cougars lost the series but salvaged the finale of the four-game set.
The Cougars had gone 1-2-3 just twice through nine innings but had stranded seven runners. Then in the 10th against Hector Corpas (0-2), Hall belted a one-out double to the right field corner, and Espinal delivered a two-out RBI single to left to bring home the game-winning run. Hall had three of the team's eight hits.
Perez has not allowed an earned run yet this year in 12 innings but got a no-decision Thursday. He lasted five innings, yielded two hits, including an infield single, walked one and fanned five. He has allowed six hits on the season, and four have not left the infield. Wooley tossed four innings of one-hit ball with five strikeouts, and Boruff (1-0) got the win after facing the minimum in the ninth.
