Prince George Cougars News Release
PRINCE GEORGE, BC - The Prince George Cougars are proud to announce the signing of 2002-born forward Mitch Kohner to a WHL Standard Player Agreement.
The Rosemount, Minnesota, native was drafted by the Cougars in the 10th-round, 121stoverall, in the 2017 WHL Bantam Draft.
"Mitch plays a WHL style of game which is impressive for his age," said Cougars General Manager Mark Lamb. "He skates well, he's physical and has the potential to bea very good player at this level."
Kohner played the last two years as a member of the Lakeville North High School Panthers in Minnesota. Last season, as a sophomore, Kohner collected five goals and three assists for eight points in 23 regular season games. Kohner helped lead the Panthers to a quarter-final berth in the Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament. In two seasons with Lakeville, the 5'11, 193-pound forward compiled nine goals and 12 points in 49 career games.
Kohner made his pre-season debut last weekend when he played in the Cougars two wins over the Vancouver Giants (7-3) and Victoria Royals (3-2).
The Cougars pre-season finale is Saturday, September 15th, against the Kamloops Blazers at the CN Centre; face-off is 7 pm. Tickets are just $10 for the general public and are FREE for Season Members. Tickets are available at the TicketsNorth box office.
