Prince George Cougars News Release

PRINCE GEORGE, BC - The Prince George Cougars are proud to announce the selection of defenceman Jordan Harris with the 10th overall pick in the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft.

Harris, a 6'1", 170 pound product of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, played this past season for the Prince Albert Pirates in the Centre Four Bantam Hockey League. Harris collected 10 goals and 24 assists for 34 points in 23 regular season games for the Pirates, a team that captured the Saskatchewan Bantam AA Championship. Harris also had 28 penalty minutes.

"We're very fortunate to get Jordan since we had been targeting a defenceman and especially from an area we are strong in," said Cougars Assistant General Manager and Director of Player Personnel Wade Klippenstein. "We had three picks last year from Northern Saskatchewan and very pleased to go back there again."

Harris is the 12th top 10 selection of the Cougars in the WHL Bantam Draft since 1994 and is the third defenceman the Cougars have selected in the first round in the last four years. The Cougars selected Josh Smith 19th overall in 2009 and Jesse Forsberg 11th overall in 2008.
