January 23, 2013 - SPHL (SPHL)
Columbus Cottonmouths News Release

COLUMBUS, Ga. - The Columbus Cottonmouths will play a pair of games this weekend on Friday and Saturday night at the Columbus Civic Center against the Fayetteville FireAntz. The weekend will be filled with excitement preceding both games as a team of all-time Cottonmouths players will face off against Fort Benning's ice hockey team on Friday night, and on Saturday night, Benning's team will play Fort Bragg in the "Camo Classic." Both games involving Fort Benning will begin at 6 PM EST with the regularly-scheduled SPHL games between the Snakes and FireAntz beginning at 7:30 PM EST both Friday and Saturday.

On Friday night, the Cottonmouths legends team will be in action against Fort Benning. The list of players returning to play other than current Snakes head coach Jerome Bechard and assistant coach Brad Prefontaine includes forwards Marcel Richard, Derek Marchand, Kevin Plager, J.A. Schneider, Craig Stahl, Tom McMonagle, Daryl Moor, Doug Mann, and Dan Leslie; defensemen Tom Wilson, Mick Kempffer, Jaroslav "Jimmy" Kerestes, Ryan Aikia, and Chris Rook; and goaltender Chad Rycroft. Gates will open at 5 PM EST Friday afternoon with the first 1,000 fans receiving a free Cottonmouths Legends t-shirt as part of the team's "Free Stuff Friday" promotion. In addition, the Snakes' legends jerseys will be auctioned off after Saturday night's game in the Columbus Civic Center suites.

On Saturday night, the stars of the military will be front and center with the "Camo Classic" between Fort Benning and Fort Bragg taking place at 6 PM EST. Again, gates will open at 5 PM EST on Saturday afternoon and the Snakes' Saturday "Happy Hour" promotion will run from 5 to 8:30 PM with $2 draft beer available on the Civic Center concourses. A few thousand soldiers from Fort Benning will also be in attendance on Saturday night. Sponsorships for soldiers to attend Saturday's game are available from the office for $5 per soldier; contact the Snakes front office at 706.571.0086 for more details. In addition, Cottonmouths players will also be wearing special military-themed jerseys this weekend that will be auctioned off on Saturday night immediately following the Legends jersey auction in the Civic Center suites.

"It's always fun to have the boys come back and get together and play," Bechard said of the Snakes' legends return this weekend. "Being in the dressing room and horsing around is usually the highlight of the weekend...it's like it was yesterday that we were together playing. I've also had a hand in putting the Fort Benning team together and it's been fun watching the guys soak up the ice time and knowledge; their competitive side really comes out. I can't wait to watch them play against Fort Bragg on Saturday...it should be a very physical game."

The Cottonmouths also announce their 2013-14 season ticket drive is in full swing. For more details, check out the Snakes' website at www.cottonmouths.com. Season ticket prices are unchanged from the current season with one notable exception: the team now offers a discounted upper level youth season ticket for children ages 12 and under for just $219 for all 28 regular season games.

For more information on these and other exciting upcoming promotions, contact the Cottonmouths front office at 706.571.0086.
