November 16, 2011 - North American Lacrosse League (NALL) - Charlotte Copperheads
Professional indoor lacrosse team, the Charlotte Copperheads, officially kicked off their 2012 campaign with the release of their official North American Lacrosse League (NALL) game schedule and the announcement of their first major signing, indoor lacrosse star Ryan Hotaling. On January 28, 2012, the Copperheads bring the fast-paced excitement of indoor lacrosse to Charlotte's Bojangles' Coliseum, offering the Queen City their first glimpse at the excitement of the North American Lacrosse League (NALL). Indoor lacrosse packages the power and aggressiveness of field lacrosse into a 200' X 85' indoor arena, resulting in a lightening quick, action-packed and more bone bruising version of the sport that is sure to please lacrosse lovers and sports fans alike all across the Carolinas and throughout the Charlotte community.
The Copperheads are excited to announce their first high profile signing, Ryan Hotaling. The 26 year old, was a key member of Team USA this past summer in the World Championships in Prague and a member of the US Developmental Team in 2009. Hotaling's professional career includes two seasons with the Boston Blazers and two seasons with the Rochester Rattlers. At Nazareth College, Hotaling was a three-time All American and 2007 Empire 8 Men's Lacrosse Player of the Year. A high-impact threat, Hotaling is known as one of the fiercest face-off specialists in the game.
Hotaling is excited to bring his skill and experience to fans in Charlotte, crediting Copperheads Team Owner Graham D'Alvia and Head Coach Tom Ryan as key influences on his lacrosse career. "Graham has been a mentor to me over the years, and I cannot wait to play under Coach Ryan again with the Copperheads." says Hotaling, who played for Ryan in Boston and Team USA. "I am very excited by the Copperheads vision and efforts to be a positive part of the Charlotte community."
Coach Tom Ryan is also looking forward to bringing Hotaling to Charlotte. Speaking of Hotaling's contribution Ryan says "he has proven himself as one of the top draw men in the game. He is a very versatile player and an even better teammate. He is a selfless individual and someone I am proud to have as a franchise player on the inaugural Copperheads' Squad."
The Copperheads kick off the 2012 season on January 21, 2012 in Kentucky against the Stickhorses of Louisville. The Copperheads' first home game at Bojangles' Coliseum is against the Hershey (PA) Haymakers on January 28, 2012. The NALL season runs until April 12th, with playoffs and the championship to follow.
