Copeland Named to NECBL Weekly Honor Roll

MONTPELIER, Vt. - Mountaineers second baseman Garrett Copeland (Bartlett, Tenn. / Austin Peay) was named to the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) Weekly Honor Roll for his strong play during Week 9 of the 2015 season.

The switch-hitting middle infielder collected seven hits in 11 at bats, posting a .636 batting average over the final week of the regular season. The rising sophomore knocked home five runs, scored two and stole four bases. He also picked up one extra-base hit, doubling in the Mountaineers' 5-0 win over Keene at Recreation Field on Friday night.

Copeland concluded the regular season with a .287 average, one homerun and 15 RBIs. He drew a team-high 24 walks and led the squad with 24 stolen bags.

The Mountaineers will return to action on Tuesday night, when the team looks for a sweep of Laconia in the opening round of the 2015 NECBL playoffs. The game will be played at Robbie Mills Field in Laconia, with first pitch slated for 6:30 p.m. The contest can be heard locally on CBS Sports 1240 WSKI and online at thevermontmountaineers.com.
