CHESTER, Pa. - With the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup fast approaching, the CONCACAF Gold Cup Trophy Tour stops in Chester, Pa., this Saturday night (May 20) for the Philadelphia Union match vs. the Colorado Rapids at 7 p.m.
Fans and media attending Saturday's Union match will be able to take photos of and with the trophy from 4:45 p.m. until approximately 6:30 p.m. in Toyota Plaza on the west side of Talen Energy Stadium. Saturday night is Military Appreciation Night presented by Talen Energy . Tickets for the match are available online at PhiladelphiaUnion.com.
This stop on the Trophy Tour promotes a July 19 CONCACAF Gold Cup quarterfinal doubleheader that will be hosted at Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field.
The first quarterfinal match will kick off at 6 p.m. featuring the winner of Group A vs. the runner-up in Group B. The second match of the doubleheader kicks off at 9 p.m. and will feature the winner of Group B vs. the third-place team from Group A or C. The Philadelphia quarterfinals will feature both the winner of Group A (Canada, Costa Rica, French Guiana and Honduras) and Group B (Martinique, Nicaragua, Panama and United States).
With the tournament fast approaching, media are reminded that accreditation is a three-step process and media are strongly advised to begin the application process as soon as possible, and no later than the deadlines indicated below. Media must complete all three steps listed below to be considered for access to any Gold Cup match day.
CONCACAF Accreditation Application
Step 1: CONCACAF Media Center - Apply by June 18, 2017
Media members who do not have a CONCACAF Media Center account must begin the accreditation process by registering on the CONCACAF Media Center . To ensure that the Gold Cup application deadline is met, a minimum of ten (10) business days are required for processing a Media Center application.
Step 2: Gold Cup Tournament Accreditation - Apply by June 30, 2017
Once approved for the CONCACAF Media Center, media will then be able to apply for Gold Cup accreditation
Step 3: Gold Cup Quarterfinal Ticketing - Opens once participating teams are confirmed; closes July 18 at 6 PM
Once Gold Cup accreditation is approved, media must apply for each specific match day they wish to cover. Match ticketing is currently open only for Group Stage matches. The window to apply for access to the July 19 quarterfinal maybe short depending on when all four participating teams are confirmed.
Applicants are advised to add MediaCenter@concacaf.org to their address book and check junk mail and/or spam folders to assure a response.
Taking place every two years, the CONCACAF Gold Cup is the official national team championship of the region. Drawing large crowds and millions of television viewers from across the region, the Gold Cup is a celebration of soccer, sportsmanship, and culture.
