Columbus Cruises to 10-1 Win

Kannapolis, NC—Kannapolis (5-26) dropped a 10-1 decision against Columbus (16-15) early Monday on Baseball Education Day at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium. The Catfish pounded out 16 hits in the win. It was a scoreless tilt until the I's took a brief 1-0 lead in the 5th inning on an RBI Sacrifice Fly hit by Leo Acosta, scoring Salvador Sanchez. That was the only run allowed by Catfish starter Alberto Bastardo (W 3-1). In the 6th, Columbus surged for 6 runs, as they sent 12 batters to the plate to face Intimidators starter Daniel Cortes (L 1-4), and RP's Paul Moviel and Tim Sabo. Columbus tacked on 4 more runs, including a HR whacked to right by Sergio Pedroza.
Kannapolis tries to salvage a win in the series finale versus Columbus, Tuesday at 7:00p.m. The newest Intimidator, Rafael Flores toes the rubber for K-town. Columbus has Mario Alvarez slated to start.
