Mississauga Steelheads News Release

Mississauga, ON - Eastern Conference Quarter Final action returned to the Hershey Centre Thursday night, as the Mississauga Steelheads looked to take a 3-1 lead in the series over the Barrie Colts. Similar to Game 3 on Tuesday, tonight's game would require extra time to determine a winner as the score sat tied at 5-5 after regulation. Justin Scott was the overtime hero tonight, netting his fourth goal of the game at 4:46 to seal a 6-5 lead and send the series back to Barrie even at 2-2.

Alexander Nylander would open the scoring with a beauty at 5:21 of the first, out-waiting Ovsjannikov before tucking the puck in short side. Nathan Bastian and Michael McLeod recorded the assists on Nylander's power play goal. The Colts were quick to respond as Andrew Mangiapane picked up a mishandled puck in front of Jack Flinn and evened the score 1-1. Justin Scott picked up his fourth of the postseason, beating Flinn blocker side just past the midway point of the first to give the Colts a 2-1 lead heading into the first intermission.

The Steelheads came out strong in the second, moving the puck well and creating some good offensive opportunities. Similar to the first, the Steelheads would strike again early in the frame as Daniel Muzito-Bagenda buried the rebound off a point-shot from Jared Walsh to make it 2-2. Everett Clark added the extra assist on DMB's fourth of the series. Later in the frame, the Steelheads restored their lead as Michael McLeod blasted home his first of the postseason from Nathan Bastian and Mason Marchment to put the Steelheads up 3-2. The Colts were able to even things up again before time ran out in the second as Rasmus Andersson fired a shot from the point through traffic to make it 3-3.

A series of penalties early in the third would cost the Colts, as the Steelheads capitalized twice on a pair of 5-on-3's. Muzito-Bagenda finished off a nice passing play from Nylander and Bastian to put the Steelheads up 4-3 with his second of the night. Nylander then wired a wrist shot from the top of the faceoff circle to put the Steelheads up 5-3 at 2:09 of the third. Nicolas Hague and Michael McLeod picked up the assists on the goal. That would unfortunately be the last tally for the Trout as Justin Scott scored two in the third, and added the overtime winner to give the Colts a 6-5 win and send the series back to Barrie tied 2-2.
