Barrie Colts News Release

Barrie, ON - Barrie Colts General Manager & Head Scout Jason Ford announced today that they have completed a trade with the Windsor Spitfires.

The Colts acquire centre Anthony Stefano, a 3rd round pick (Windsor's) in 2019 and a 2nd round pick (Windsor's) in 2021 from the Spitfires in exchange for forward Brendan Lemieux, a 3rd round pick (Windsor's) in 2017 and a 4th round pick (Barrie's) in 2020.

"We feel this is a sound hockey deal that both sides will benefit from," said General Manager & Head Scout Jason Ford. "We obtain a skilled player that comes to the rink with a good work ethic in Anthony Stefano, and the Spitfires acquire a proven goal scorer in the league in Brendan Lemieux."

"The draft-picks we obtained in the deal hold excellent value in the league; and we can elect to use them in a variety of ways," added Ford.

Lemieux, 19, was in his fourth season with the Barrie Colts appearing in 175 games recording 83 goals, 141 points while tallying 370 penalty minutes. The Winnipeg Jets prospect was originally drafted by the Colts in the 4th round (69th overall) in 2012.

Stefano, 19, was originally drafted by the Peterborough Petes in the 5th round (86th overall) in the 2012 OHL Priority Selection. Currently in his fourth OHL season Stefano has appeared in 147 games scoring 31 goals and 78 points between the Petes and Spitfires. The Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario native has recorded 5 goals and 13 points in 20 games this season.

The entire Colts organization wishes Brendan all the best with his new team in Windsor, and welcome Anthony to the Colts organization.

The Barrie Colts will be in action tonight as they play host to the visiting London Knights in their first of two meetings this season. Game time is 7:30pm. Click here for tickets.
