News Release

WILMINGTON, DE -The Wilmington Blue Rocks (60-53/21-22) got a walk-off single by Roman Collins in the bottom of the 10th to defeat the Frederick Keys 5-4 on Sunday night at Frawley Stadium. A game that saw both sides trade runs in four different frames, Wilmington eventually had the last say, as the Keys were dealt their sixth walk-off defeat of the season. The setback also handed Wilmington the four-game series.

Ademar Rifaela belted his second home run of the game off Grant Gavin in the top of the 10th. The Keys then called on Tanner Chleborad to shut the door. Nate Esposito opened the frame with a double to right to send up Nick Heath. He lined a single to right, while an error by Randolph Gassaway allowed the tying run to score. Jecksson Flores sacrificed Heath to third, before Collins singled home his teammate to end the game. It was Wilmington's ninth walk-off win.

The Keys and Blue Rocks exchanged single markers in three separate innings. Rifaela got the scoring started in the fourth with his first home run of the game to right off Jared Ruxer.

In the bottom of the fourth, Wilmington moved even against Cristian Alvarado. Collins opened the inning with a single, moved to second on a groundout and scored on a base hit by Wander Franco.

Back-to-back doubles by Armando Araiza and Drew Turbin made it a 2-1 affair, but a strange sequence leveled the game in the fifth. With two outs and runners at second and third, the catcher Araiza made a snap throw down to third. The ball went off the glove of Jomar Reyes enabling Jose Sanchez to score. Nate Esposito also tried to score from second but was thrown out by Gassaway in left.

An RBI base hit by Araiza plated Reyes in the seventh, while Wilmington countered with a walk and a double by Esposito. He advanced to third on an error by Gassaway.

Gavin (1-0) vultured the win, allowing one run on two hits in the 10th inning. Chleborad (1-4) suffered the loss, allowing two runs (one earned) in one-third of an inning.

The Keys will enjoy an off-day on Monday before beginning a three-game series with the Winston-Salem Dash on Tuesday night.
