The St. Louis Cardinals have released their minor league coaching staffs for next year's 2009 season. All four Springfield coaches from 2008, will return to the Cardinals in 2009.

The Cards will be led by Manager Ron "Pop" Warner, who returns for his third year in Springfield and his 19th in the St. Louis system.

Warner led the Cardinals to their first ever playoff bid back in 2007, then followed up in 2008, by leading Springfield to their best overall mark in franchise history and the second best record in the Texas League at 76-64, but just missed the playoffs.

Returning for his third year as Hitting Coach will be Derrick May, who begins his fifth year as a coach in the St. Louis minor league system. May has served as Warner's Hitting Coach for all five years spent in the St. Louis organization. The former first-round pick of the Cubs helped Springfield to a .275 team average last season.

Bryan Eversgerd will again serve as the Pitching Coach, his second year in Springfield. Eversgerd began his coaching career back in 2001, after retiring in 2000. Springfield's pitching staff was third in the league with an ERA of 4.17 in 2008, Eversgerd's first year.

Athletic Trainer Jay Pierson will also return in the same capacity, his second year in the organization.
