Texas Copperheads News Release

Each week txcopperheads.com talks with Head Coach Ollie Guidry about everything Copperheads. If you have a question for Coach Guidry, email it to cronquillo@texascopperheads.com. Next week, Coach Guidry might answer your question!

This week Coach Guidry addresses the week 13 home loss to Corpus Christi and comments about team personnel.

On why the Copperheads faltered in the 2nd half against Corpus Christi: "Unfortunately we made too many mistakes. We gave up some big plays on defense. Offensively we had a chance but we turned the ball over a couple of times and kind of killed the momentum. When we did strike, special teams busted a play on the kick off team and we lost momentum."

On the Copperheads offense: "Our offense hasn't been playing very well. Our quarterbacks have been inconsistent. Our pass protection for the most part has been inconsistent....and some of our receivers have been inconsistent. At some point the guys have to be able to step up and take account for their responsibilities on each and every play."

On WR Tim Riley's 15 catch, 154 yard, 2 TD performance against Corpus Christi: "Tim played well. All of that had to do with Tim...and a lot had to do with our scheme in putting him in position to catch a lot of passes. Tim was into the game. He was focused. He played with a lot of passion. He played with a lot of energy."

On team personnel: "There are some guys we have on this football team who we have to keep coaching up. You can say that for all the guys on the team. There are some guys who are still trying to learn the game. It's to the point right now where we have to make some decisions on some of our personnel. But...we've been playing hard. We practice hard. We're going to play hard. Looking at the second half (of last week's game against Corpus Christi) we had some chances there but unfortunately we came up a little short. We have to make some more adjustments until we get the right pieces of the puzzle together."
