Iowa Cubs News Release

METAIRIE, LA - Iowa (8-8) forced a series split with a 4-3 win over New Orleans (6-10), Friday at Shrine on Airline. The Baby Cakes attempted a late-inning comeback, but a clutch RBI-single in the ninth from Stephen Bruno secured the ballgame for the I-Cubs.

Iowa led the whole way until a solo home run from J.T. Riddle and an RBI double from Destin Hood knotted the game at 3-3 in the eighth. Mark Zagunis ignited Iowa's offense in the final frame, leading off with a walk and moving into scoring position on a bunt from Taylor Davis. With two outs, Bruno lined a base hit to center field to bring in the winning run.

Eddie Butler did not factor into the decision, but worked 6.0 strong innings for Iowa, allowing one run on eight hits and a walk. Through four starts for Iowa, Butler boasts a 1.46 ERA and three quality starts. Dylan Floro (1-0) was credited with a blown save, but also wound up with the win and his first decision of the season. Felix Pena tallied his second save of the year with a scoreless ninth.

Ian Happ snapped a 0-for-14 skid with a rocket to center field in the sixth for his league-leading seventh home run. Davis went 1-for-2 with an RBI to extend his on-base streak to a PCL-leading 33 games dating back to 2016.

Iowa begins a four-game series with the Express in Round Rock tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. Listen on AM 940 or stream the broadcast on www.iowacubs.com.
