Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release

CLINTON, IA - The Clinton LumberKings ended the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers two-game winning streak with a 9-2 win on Sunday afternoon at Ashford University Field. The LumberKings were up 6-0 after two innings, 9-0 after the top of the fifth, and cracked a total of twelve hits in the game.

Clinton (19-28) scored in the bottom of the first to take the lead against Wisconsin starting pitcher Miguel Sanchez. Rayder Ascanio walked to start the inning. He stole second and took third on an error. Bryson Brigman drove in Ascanio with a double for the 1-0 advantage. Brigman would be at third with one out, but Sanchez stranded him there by striking out the next two batters.

The LumberKings put a bigger number on the scoreboard in the second as they scored five runs to go up 6-0. Luis Rengifo started the inning with a double. Kristian Brito drove in Rengifo with a single. Luis Liberato was next and he tripled to right-center to send Brito home. Sanchez, who was making his first start of the season, walked Ascanio again and Ascanio would steal second again. A throwing error on the play allowed Liberato to trot home. Then, Brigman lifted a deep fly to left that just cleared the wall for a two-run homer, his first home run of the season. That closed the scoring in the frame.

The Timber Rattlers (23-24) went to the bullpen in the bottom of the fourth inning, but Clinton added to their lead when Ascanio hit a two-run home run to right field against Parker Berberet and the LumberKings were up 8-0.

Ascanio made it 9-0 with a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the fifth.

Wisconsin got on the board in the top of the seventh. Ronnie Gideon doubled to center to send Demi Orimoloye across the plate.

Monte Harrison extended his streak of games with an RBI to six with a sacrifice fly that scored Trever Morrison from third base in the top of the ninth inning to account for the final Wisconsin run.

The Timber Rattlers had nine hits, but stranded nine runners and were just 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position on Sunday as they dropped back below the .500 mark.

The final game of the series is set for Memorial Day. Braden Webb (1-3, 4,34) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. Brandon Miller (5-2, 3.83) is set to start for the LumberKings. Game time is 2:00pm.

The radio broadcast is on AM1280, WNAM starting with the Potawatomi Hotel & Casino Pregame Show at 1:40pm. The broadcast is also available on TuneIn Radio and IHeartRadio,
