Chicago Wolves News Release

CEDAR PARK, TEXAS---For the second time in a week, Matt Climie earned a shutout to lead the Chicago Wolves to a 2-0 victory Friday night over the Texas Stars at Cedar Park Center.

Defenseman Adam Polasek and forward Darren Archibald lit the lamp in the first period for the Wolves (27-17-4-3) to give Climie all he needed. Climie (15-14-2) stopped 33 shots for his fifth shutout of the year, which is one shy of Wendell Young's single-season record set in 1999-2000.

Chicago went on the offensive early when Polasek pounced on a loose puck at the top of the circle and rifled a one-timer past Texas netminder Jake Campbell (13-8-3). Polasek's first score of the season came at 4:38.

Archibald followed up with his seventh of the season, picking up the puck at center ice and walking into a wrister that went top-shelf past Campbell at the 11:55 mark.

Trailing 2-0 after 20 minutes, the Stars (33-15-4-4) upped their aggression on the Wolves in the second period, exerting the forecheck but failing to make a dent in the score.

The Wolves carried their two-goal lead into the third and Climie had to stay on point to keep it. Texas attempted 15 shots in the third period but Climie stood fast.

The Stars pulled Campbell (17 saves) with just under two minutes left, but sprawling saves by Climie kept Texas at bay to secure the win.

The Wolves continue their Texas road trip at 7 p.m. Saturday against the San Antonio Rampage. They will return to the Allstate Arena on Saturday, March 9, for an Amtrak Rivalry game against the Milwaukee Admirals. For tickets, call1-800-THE-WOLVES or visit ChicagoWolves.com.
