Edenton Steamers News Release

The Edenton Steamers (27-23, 10-12) took a tough 6-3 loss to the Peninsula Pilots (29-21, 13-9) in their final game at home against Peninsula. Edenton also trailed the entire night.

The Pilots struck first in the first two innings to take a 2-0 lead. Peninsula brought home a run on a wild pitch in the first inning, and got an RBI single in the second to add to the lead.

The Steamers answered with a run of their own in the third when JJ Carr scored on a wild pitch to make it a one-run game. Edenton tied the game in the fourth on an RBI groundout by Jason Agresti to make it 2-2.

However, it did not take long for the Pilots to respond. Peninsula brought home a run in the sixth on a sacrifice fly to retake the lead. The Steamers answered quickly in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI double by Jason Agresti. Edenton had runners at second and third with no outs, but they were unable to bring across a run in the frame.

Peninsula retook the lead in the seventh on an RBI single from Logan Augustine to make it 4-3. The Pilots stretched their lead in the eighth on a two-run homer by Connor Davis to make it 6-3. This lead proved to be too much for the Steamers.

Sean Hughes (1-2) got the loss for Edenton while Chase Randolph (1-0) picked up the win for Peninsula. Jackson Wark got his second save of the year for the Pilots.

The Teal and Black will be back in action on Thursday for a doubleheader against the Wilmington Sharks. First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m.
