(Oshawa, ON) - On Ice Entertainment in association with the City of Oshawa and the Oshawa Generals are pleased to announce that the New York Islanders will host the Buffalo Sabres at the Tribute Communities Centre in Oshawa for a preseason exhibition game.

"On Ice Entertainment are delighted to be working with the New York Islanders again and thank them for this opportunity. The City of Oshawa has a fantastic hockey history and we welcome the chance to be included," said John Graham, President of On Ice Entertainment.

"Oshawa, home to the Oshawa Generals Hockey Club and 2015 Memorial Cup Champions, has created many hockey legends," stated Oshawa's Mayor, John Henry. "This event will bring today's heroes of hockey to the Tribute Communities Centre, Durham Region's premier sports and entertainment facility, located in Downtown Oshawa."

"The New York Islanders are excited to host a game in Oshawa, Ontario, one of Canada's true hockey communities," New York Islanders President and General Manager Garth Snow said. "The Oshawa community is one of the most passionate markets in hockey, so we can't wait to have our players take the ice in from of them. The Ontario Hockey League has developed young prospects into NHL players for years, including several Islanders players who played for the Generals, such as John Tavares, Cal Clutterbuck, Calvin de Haan, Michael Dal Colle, Mitchell Vande Sompel and goaltending coach, Fred Brathwaite. I look forward to seeing a sold-out Tribute Communities Centre for our game against the Buffalo Sabres."
