CINCINNATI - Jeff Berding, FC Cincinnati President and General Manager, officially introduced Cincinnati Bell Inc., as the presenting sponsor of the club's international friendly against Crystal Palace today in a press conference at the FCC offices.

Joining Berding at the press conference was Mayor John Cranley, Cincinnati Bell Inc., President and CEO, Ted Torbeck and Barrie Perks, Vice President of Sales and Services from the Cincinnati Convention USA and Visitors Bureau.

"Having Crystal Palace come to Cincinnati validates our belief that this is a great soccer town and is a city on the rise," said Berding. "This is going to be a great event that has been made possible by the support of our fans and our community as demonstrated by our partnership with Cincinnati Bell."

"I believe that FC Cincinnati is the future of Cincinnati and we are going to do everything we can to support them," said Cranley. "I'll add that Cincinnati Bell and Ted Torbeck, time and again, have shown they are willing step up and make a difference in this community."

The match against Crystal Palace is the first of its kind for the Greater Cincinnati area and the young franchise, which is in its first year in the United Soccer League. The two sides will take the field, July 16 at 7:00 p.m. at Nippert Stadium.

"Cincinnati Bell has a longstanding tradition of investing in our community and in organizations that make Greater Cincinnati a great place to live," said Ted Torbeck, president and CEO of Cincinnati Bell Inc.

"FC Cincinnati has done a tremendous job of engaging soccer fans across Greater Cincinnati. Our customers and our employees are excited about the team, so it's a natural fit for Cincinnati Bell to support FC Cincinnati and sponsor this great event."

FCC is averaging nearly 17,000 fans and has already rewritten the USL's single-game attendance record twice. The franchise has sold close to 25,000 tickets to the friendly and last week opened sales to the East Pavilion.

"The Cincinnati region welcomes more than 24 million visitors each year, and FC Cincinnati has already become one of our destination's top attractions for both residents and visitors," said Perks. "When the thousands of fans come to Cincinnati for this game, they'll be spending dollars at our hotels, pubs and local businesses. That's the power of tourism and FC Cincinnati is a great partner for the industry."

The match will be preceded with a ceremonial flight by the Cincinnati Zoo's Sam the Eagle and will be followed with a post-match fireworks show.
