The Idaho Falls Chukars pitching staff gained help from the draft Friday, as RHP Jace Vines joined the team in Grand Junction, Colorado. Vines was the fourth-round pick of the Kansas City Royals in the 2016 draft out of Texas A&M.

Vines spent one year with the Aggies, going 6-1 with a 4.76 ERA in 17 games (11 starts). He struck out 60 in 62.1 innings.

A draft-eligible sophomore, Vines played his freshman year at Tyler (TX) Junior College, where he posted a 10-1 record and 1.77 ERA to earn NJCAA Division III Pitcher of the Year and All-America First Team honors.

Vines made one appearance with the Arizona League Royals before joining Idaho Falls. He pitched 1.2 innings, gave up three hits and two runs, walked one and struck out two.
