August 10, 2016 - Pioneer League (PL)
Idaho Falls Chukars News Release

Idaho Falls - The Idaho Falls Chukars and Kansas City Royals have agreed to extend their affiliation for two more years. The current agreement was set to expire at the end of the 2016 season, and this guarantees the relationship between the Chukars and Royals will continue through the 2018 season.

Ronnie Richardson, the Royals Director of Minor League Operations, said he was very happy with the two-year extension: "We are truly excited to continue our partnership with the Idaho Falls Chukars. The Idaho Falls organization and the entire community continue to embrace our players and staff each year, and that truly makes Idaho Falls a special place to develop our players."

The Chukars have had success on the field over the past couple seasons, winning the Pioneer League Championship in 2013 and making another championship appearance in 2015. This season, the Chukars have the top-ranked offense in the Pioneer League in terms of batting average, and are sitting in a tie for first place in the South Division at 26-22.

Chukars President/GM Kevin Greene commented on the extension: "We couldn't be happier with the relationship that we have developed with the Kansas City Royals over the past 12 ½ seasons. They are a class organization with quality people, and we are truly proud to be a part of it."

The Kansas City Royals have also had a recent run of success on the field, claiming the World Series trophy in 2015 and making a World Series appearance in 2014 as well. The Royals' core group of players, including Eric Hosmer, Mike Moustakas and 2015 World Series MVP Salvador Perez, all got their first taste of professional baseball in Idaho Falls, and the Chukars hope to keep funneling future All-Stars and champions towards Kansas City.
