Christina Gibbons Named to U-23 U.S. Women's National Team

KANSAS CITY - U. S. Soccer announced today that FC Kansas City rookie defender Christina Gibbons was selected to play for the U-23 U.S. Women's National Team. The team will travel to Sweden to play the 2017 Women's U-23 Open Nordic Tournament against Norway, England and Sweden.

Gibbons is one of seven National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) players named to the team. She was also part of the U-23 team that traveled to La Manga, Spain in March for another four-nation tournament. Gibbons started two of the three games and wore the captain's armband against England.

The U.S. team will depart for Sweden on June 1, although Gibbons is expected to be available for selection on Saturday, June 3rd in North Carolina as FC Kansas City faces the N.C. Courage at 2:30 p.m. CT in the Lifetime NWSL Game of the Week.
