Chris Davis Returns to Nailers

Another member of last year's Nailers team will be returning for the 2010-2011 season. The Nailers have announced that Chris Davis has been signed to play for the AA affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins for a season consecutive campaign.
Davis played in 50 games last year after being acquired in an early season trade with Stockton. He scored 11 goals and 9 assists for 20 points while also accumulating 28 penalty minutes.
The Simsbury, Connecticut native was oftentimes called upon to provide energy to the lineup. His hustle and determination helped sparked the team's rapid improvement on the penalty kill where the Nailers finished the season at a solid 20% by year's end. The 5'10" right-handed shooting winger will be 24 years old in September.
Davis caught everyone's attention in his Nailers debut on November 20, 2009 at Elmira. Taking a fine cross-ice feed from Casey Pierro-Zabotel, Davis sped his way up the left-wing past the defenseman and in on goal where he netted the overtime game-winner.
Prior to his rookie season, Davis competed for four years at UMass-Amherst playing in 139 games from 2005-09. In his senior season he was a runner-up for Player of the Month in the powerful Hockey East Conference. In his freshman year with the Minutemen he was named the team's Rookie of the Year.
Davis is the sixth player signing officially announced by the Nailers.
