Arizona Sundogs News Release

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Arizona Sundogs Hockey Club, in conjunction with the Central Hockey League, today announced that CHL leading scorer and All-Star Game MVP Alex Leavitt has been named to the 2007-08 All-CHL Team, as selected by the league's 17 head coaches.

Leavitt currently leads the CHL in scoring with 115 points (35g/80a) in 54 games. The Edmonton, Alberta, native currently owns a 13-game point streak, tallying 37 points (9g/28a) in that span. He has collected multiple-points in 35 games this season and has failed to collect a point in just six outings with Arizona this season.

The 5-foot-10, 175-pound forward has also seen time with the American Hockey League's San Antonio Rampage this season, registering one goal, two assists and six penalty minutes in four games with the AHL club.

The 24-year-old is chasing his second professional scoring title, having won the ECHL scoring title as a rookie during the 2005-06 season with 91 points (26g/65a) in 72 games. He also was selected as the ECHL's Rookie of the Year that season. If he secures the CHL's scoring title this season, he would become just the second player in history to capture both the ECHL and CHL scoring titles. Trevor Jobe won the ECHL's scoring title in 1992-93 (161 points) and the CHL title in 1996-97 (125 points).

Other players named to the 2007-08 All-CHL Team include Laredo's Jeff Bes (forward), Rocky Mountain's Brent Cullaton (forward), Colorado's Aaron Schneekloth (defenseman), New Mexico's Vladimir Hartinger (defenseman) and Bossier-Shreveport's John DeCaro (goaltender).
