CHIVAS USA LOOKS TO TIE FRANCHISE-BEST START WITH WIN SATURDAY

Chivas USA continues its MLS play this Saturday when it hosts Western Conference rival the Colorado Rapids at 7:30 p.m. (PT) at The Home Depot Center. The Rojiblancos (3-1-1) have won three out of their last four matches and are unbeaten in four straight games to secure sole possession of second place with 10 points. With a win on Saturday, the Rebaño Angelino would equal a franchise-best record through the first six matches. The 2009 Chivas USA squad started the season with a record of 4-1-1 and went on to make the playoffs.

CHIVAS USA YOUTH ACADEMY RETURNS TO CITY OF BELL GARDENS

Chivas USA announced Friday that its Youth Academy will return to the city of Bell Gardens beginning April 15. The return to John Anson Ford Park will include Chivas USA's Under-13, U-14, U-15, U-16 and U-18 teams. The Youth Academy's objective is to identify talented young soccer players and provide them with a comprehensive development plan, ensuring maximum growth and improvement.

ROOKIE CARLOS ALVAREZ MEET-AND-GREET

Second-overall MLS SuperDraft pick and East Los Angeles native Carlos Alvarez will be in attendance for a meet-and-greet at The Shops at Montebello on Sunday, April 14, from 2-4 p.m. Chivas USA has partnered with The Shops at Montebello for the 2013 season. Customers and fans will receive exclusive access to events and offers, such as autograph signings by Chivas USA players and the ChivaFighter Mascot.

The conference foes met three times last season - twice with Colorado as the home side. The Rapids took the season series by claiming wins in the first and last meeting between the clubs. Chivas USA came away with a tie at Dick's Sporting Goods Park last August. Down a goal, forward Juan Pablo Angel knocked in the equalizer in the 83rd minute for the 1-1 result. The season finale was played at The Home Depot Center in late October, as the Rapids came away with the 2-0 win thanks to two first-half scores.

GOATS NOTES AND FACTS

Red-and-White Tops in MLS with Goals Scored

Chivas USA has recorded a league-high 10 goals, and is averaging 2.5 goals in its last four matches. The Rojiblancos of last season did not score their 10th goal until the 15th game of the season. Last year's squad had one game in which they recorded three goals and it came in late August. This year's Red-and-White edition, under new Head Coach Jose Luis Sanchez Sola "Chelis," has already recorded three goals or more in two matches.

Defensive Goats

Along with its league-high 10 goals scored, Chivas USA's defense has been a key part of its four-game unbeaten streak, allowing just one goal per match. Goalkeeper and captain Dan Kennedy leads the Red-and-White defense with his league-high 23 saves.
