Club Deportivo Chivas USA News Release

CARSON, CA - Chivas USA announced Thursday that forward Eduardo Lillingston will join Mexican ‘Liga de Ascenso' side Club Tijuana on loan for the Bicentenario 2010 season. Lillingston, who led Chivas USA in goals in 2009 with eight, will rejoin the Red-and-White after the season ends in June, and will be eligible for Chivas USA matches after the transfer window re-opens on July 15.

"This move allows us some flexibility with our roster, and will give Eduardo a good opportunity to play games during the offseason and before rejoining our team," said Chivas USA Vice President of Soccer Operations Stephen Hamilton. "We hope Eduardo does well in his time with Tijuana, and we look forward to his return in July ready to help the team toward MLS Cup."

Lillingston, 32, played 12 years in the Mexican First Division before joining Chivas USA prior to the 2009 season. With the Red-and-White in 2009, the forward played 25 matches (15 starts), scoring eight goals and adding two assists. At Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente of the second division in Mexico, he will join former Chivas USA midfielder Francisco ‘Panchito' Mendoza, who was recently loaned to the team from Chivas de Guadalajara.

Chivas USA will open preseason for the 2010 campaign in late January, and will play its first match of the 2010 season on Sunday, March 28, 2010, when it hosts the Colorado Rapids. Season seats are now on sale for the Red-and-White's sixth campaign in MLS; for more information, or to purchase tickets, please call 1-877-CHIVAS-1 or visit cdchivasusa.com.
