Chivas USA Acquire Midfielder Aaron Ponce

CARSON, Calif. (Friday, May 10, 2013) - Chivas USA announced today that the club has acquired midfielder MartÃ-n AarÃ"n Ponce via loan from sister club Chivas Guadalajara. The 20-year-old player will be eligible to play for the Red-and-White pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate. Per club and League policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

A product of Chivas Guadalajara's youth academy Ponce played in all youth category teams as part of his development. Most recently he was a member of Chivas Rayadas, a Second Division team in Mexico's Liga Premier.

As a member of Mexico's Youth National Team, Ponce competed in the 2009 Under-17 FIFA World Cup in Nigeria. In that tournament the native of Guanajuato, México, saw action in two games before being sent home one game into the Second Round. With the addition of Ponce, Chivas USA's roster now has a total of four players who have participated with Mexico's Youth National Team; Giovanni Casillas, Edgar MejÃ-a and Julio Morales are the other three.

Chivas USA would like to welcome Ponce and wish him the best of luck in his stay with the Rebaño Angelino.
