Hector Sanchez hit a grand slam to cap off a five-run fifth inning in the El Paso Chihuahuas' 5-3 Game 1 victory over the Tacoma Rainiers. It was the fourth grand slam hit by a Chihuahuas' player this year and the third time in the last three years El Paso has hit a grand slam in Tacoma.
Manuel Margot, Carlos Asuaje and Sanchez had two hits each for El Paso.
Michael Kelly pitched five innings and allowed three runs in the win, advancing his record to 6-1. It was El Paso's 60th win of the season, as the Chihuahuas reached the 60-win mark earlier than the club's first two seasons (August 12 in 2014 and August 11 in 2015).

The Chihuahuas led Game 2 by three runs in the top of the fourth inning but Tacoma scored four in the bottom of the fourth to go ahead and the Rainiers' bullpen kept them ahead for good, holding El Paso without any runs in the final three innings.
The Chihuahuas had a nine-batter fourth, with RBIs coming on a sacrifice fly by Taylor Lindsey, an RBI single by Margot and a two-run double by Auston Bousefield. Tacoma's four-run fourth brought eight hitters to the plate.
Bryan Rodriguez suffered the loss in his first game off the disabled list. The Chihuahuas have split all four doubleheaders they've played in 2016.
