Chihuahuas Split Doubleheader in Reno Sunday

The El Paso Chihuahuas shocked Diamondbacks' pitching prospect Anthony Banda with five runs on six hits in Banda's first Triple-A inning and went on to beat the Reno Aces 7-4 in Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader.
Chihuahuas' pitcher Eric Yardley went 4.1 innings and allowed only one earned run in his first professional start after four seasons exclusively as a reliever. Yardley's longest 2016 outing before Sunday was 2.1 innings.
Austin Hedges went 1-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs and in the process became the first player in Chihuahuas' history to hit home runs in five consecutive games. He is now two games shy of the Pacific Coast League record, previously set by Albuquerque players Claude Westmoreland (1977) and Dallas McPherson (2008).
The 7-4 victory was the same result and score of the series opener on Saturday night.

Gabby Guerrero's walk-off home run capped off Reno's four-run final inning, as the Aces stunned the Chihuahuas 6-4 in Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader. The Chihuahuas took the field in the seventh inning of the seven-inning game with a 4-2 lead before the Aces hit a single, double, triple and home run in order without making an out to win the game.
Catcher Hector Sanchez went 2-for-3 with two home runs and three RBIs in his first start with El Paso after being outrighted by San Diego. Edwin Jackson pitched three innings and allowed one earned run on four hits in his Padres' organizational debut.
After the doubleheader split, the Chihuahuas remain in first place, 3.5 games ahead of second place Las Vegas. El Paso is 12-6 all-time in doubleheader games.
