Chiefs Rally Past Bees in Seventh

Burlington Bees News Release

Peoria, IL (August 18, 2010) - Jose Bonilla's mammoth homer in the top of the fifth knotted the game at the three, but it was Peoria getting the last laugh with three unearned runs in a 5-2 win over the Bees at O'Brien Field on Thursday night.

Bonilla sent a Nick Struck fastball over the left center field berm with a runner on first for his third big fly of the year. The ball traveled beyond a row of palm trees and barely induced a chase from the pair of Peoria outfielders. It came two batters after Carlo Testa's liner to center. Testa finished the night with a team-high three hits.

The game remained knotted at two until the bottom of the seventh. After an Alex McClure fielding error put a man on with one out, Scott Kelley (L, 0-3) walked consecutive hitters to load the bases and allowed Anthony Giansanti to dump a single into shallow left to put Peoria up. Hak-Ju Lee added a run on a fielder's choice and Logan Watkins singled up the middle for another insurance tally.

Bees hurlers combined to walk 10 batters on the night. The Chiefs, led by Nick Struck (W, 8-8), walked only one.

The loss is Burlington's fifth in a row, and the win for Peoria extends their streak to four.

The Bees and Chiefs square off in game two of the year's final series between the two clubs on Thursday night at 7:00. Join Nick Devlin on News Radio 1490 KBUR and GoBees.com for the Casebine Community Credit Union Pregame Show at 6:40.
