Syracuse, NY - The Syracuse Chiefs came from four runs down to beat the Pawtucket Red Sox, 5-4, in ten innings Sunday afternoon. Jason Martinson drove in Trea Turner in the bottom of the tenth inning for the Chiefs' second walk-off win in three days.
Pawtucket (12-11) jumped on the board first in the opening inning. Ryan LaMarre singled with one out off Aaron Laffey. Blake Swihart followed a batter later with a double that plated LaMarre and gave the PawSox an early 1-0 lead. After a groundout moved Swihart to third, Rusney Castillo reached on an error on Turner at short. Swihart scored to make the score 2-0.
The Red Sox added a third run in the fourth. Sean Coyle reached on an error on second baseman Brendan Ryan followed by a Deven Marrero single to put two on with two outs. LaMarre then blooped a double to right field, allowing Coyle to scored and push the lead to 3-0.
Pawtucket attained a 4-0 lead in the fifth. Rusney Castillo doubled and moved to third on a fly out. Two batters later, Sam Runion stuck out Jantzen Witte on a wild pitch allowing Castillo to score and Witte to reach first, adding a fourth run to the lead.
Syracuse (12-10) started the comeback from there. Jhonatan Solano and Matt Skole each tallied RBI groundouts in the fifth and sixth respectively to cut the PawSox lead to 4-2.
The Chiefs added a third run in the eighth. Caleb Ramsey, who came in when Ben Revere's rehab ended after seven innings, reached to start the inning on an error on Coyle at second. Turner followed with an RBI double, scoring Ramsey to get the Chiefs within 4-3.
Syracuse's rally continued in the ninth. Brian Goodwin led off the inning with a homer off the top of the wall in right against Wesley Wright to tie the game at four.
The Chiefs completed the comeback in the tenth. Turner and Scott Sizemore singled back-to-back with one out off Kyle Martin. Then Martinson singled to left, and Turner beat Castillo's throw to the plate to seal the series sweep.
Syracuse has won seven of its last eight and is 11-2 at home this year. The Chiefs open a three-game series with the Red Wings Monday night at 6:35 p.m. Paolo Espino is scheduled to start for Syracuse opposite Jason Wheeler for Rochester.
