THE COUNTDOWN TO 2016-17
The Wolves already have six guaranteed home games for the 2016-17 campaign, starting with the home opener at 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 15. The other confirmed Saturday dates are: November 19, January 7, January 21, February 4 and March 4. WOLVES WRAP 22ND SEASON WITH WEEKEND SWEEP
Chicago closed its 22nd season by taking 4 points from Iowa in a home-and-home set on April 15-16. The Wolves edged the Wild 3-2 on Friday to record their 12th straight win at Wells Fargo Arena. Chicago followed with a 4-2 victory in front of 14,312 fans in the season finale, scoring three times in the second period to claim Win No. 20 at Allstate Arena.
WOLVES HEADLINERS
- PAT CANNONE: In his third season with the Wolves, the veteran center captured the team's scoring title with 52 points (20G, 32A) and set career-highs for goals and points in the process ... CANNONE also led the squad in game-winning goals (5) ... The Wolves captain earned five major awards in 2015-16: the Dan Snyder Man of the Year Award, the IOA/American Specialty Man of the Year Award (Chicago recipient), AHL All-Star Challenge MVP, AHL Accuracy Shooting Champion, and CCM/AHL Player of the Week (Jan. 18).
- TY RATTIE: Closed the season on a high note, scoring twice in Chicago's 4-2 win over Iowa on Saturday ... RATTIE finished with 17 goals and placed third in team scoring with 46 points despite missing 14 games ... The Airdire, Alberta, native has finished third or higher in team scoring all three seasons with the Wolves ... RATTIE owns 136 career points (69G, 67A) with the Wolves, ranking 19th all-time in team history.
- DANNY KRISTO: Produced a pair of goals and scored in the shootout in the Wolves' 3-2 win on Friday in Des Moines ... The team's goal-scoring leader reached the 25-goal mark for the third straight AHL season, having done so twice before in Hartford.
- ZACH O'BRIEN: Went the entire season without a penalty, setting the Wolves' single-season record for most games played (62) without committing a penalty ... O'BRIEN's disciplined approach on the ice has resulted in just four trips to the sin bin in 179 professional games.
- JORDAN BINNINGTON: Earned the nod in net in the season finale, registering his team-best 41st appearance ... BINNINGTON compiled a 2.85 goals-against average and a .907 save percentage during the season as he split time with PHEONIX COPLEY, who played in 37 games and recorded a 2.79 goals-against average along with a .909 save percentage.
- JUSTIN SELMAN: Netted his first professional goal on Saturday, striking with 2:30 left in the game ... The University of Michigan product played in the final 7 games of the season after completing his college eligibility ... The rookie center won 49 percent of his faceoffs (39 of 79) and earned time on the penalty-killing unit.
- JORDAN SCHMALTZ: Recorded 2 assists in the season finale to post the third-most points by a Wolves rookie defenseman in a season (36) ... SCHMALTZ led Wolves rookies in scoring and finished fourth overall on the team ... The Verona, Wisconsin, native also posted a team-best 14 power-play assists and collected the second-most assists (30).
WOLF TRACKS
- The Wolves used 46 players during the season - the team's most since the 2012-13 season (47).
- Four was a magic number for the Wolves in 2015-16, who posted a 19-1-0-0 record when scoring at least 4 goals.
- JACOB DOTY led AHL rookies in penalty minutes (163) while JORDAN SCHMALTZ finished sixth among rookie defensemen in scoring (36 points). Coach JOHN ANDERSON shepherded 16 AHL rookies through the ranks this season.
- PAT CANNONE was scratched from Saturday's finale due to injury, which allowed JEREMY WELSH to finish as the team's sole leader in game appearances (74). WELSH missed his two games when reassigned to St. Louis in mid-November and finished with a 63-game playing streak.
WOLVES REWIND (2-1-0-0)
Saturday, April 16 (at) Chicago 4, Iowa 2
- Chicago closed its 22nd regular season with the win over Iowa on First Responders Night at Allstate Arena.
- TY RATTIE scored twice while JUSTIN SELMAN tallied his first goal in a Wolves uniform. Defensemen CHRIS BUTLER also added a goal.
- JORDAN BINNINGTON finished with 24 saves to earn the win.
Friday, April 15 Chicago 3, (at) Iowa 2 (SO)
- In his first shootout attempt of the season, ANDRE BENOIT scored in the sixth round to lift Chicago to the shootout win at Wells Fargo Arena.
- DANNY KRISTO scored two goals during regulation and tallied during the shootout, while PAT CANNONE assisted on both of Kristo's goals.
- PHEONIX COPLEY stopped 41 shots in regulation and overtime before quashing 5 of 6 attempts in the shootout to pick up the win.
Tuesday, April 12 (at) Milwaukee 3, Chicago 1
- Chicago gave up a late power-play goal in falling to Milwaukee in Amtrak Rivalry action. The contest marked the Wolves' final appearance at the Bradley Center.
- DANNY KRISTO scored the Wolves' lone goal, notching his 23rd of the season.
- JORDAN BINNINGTON finished with 33 saves.
